dance CLASSES
Whether you are 3 or 33 there is a dance class suitable for all ages at Footlights Dance School. Our Ballet & Boogie classes are perfect for 3 - 5 year olds as these are a mix of Ballet and Freestyle with the emphasis on fun while being introduced to technique.
In Ballet & Tap our students will follow the IDTA syllabus graduating from Ballet & Boogie to the Preparatory level, then Primary Grade before moving on to Grades 1-5 in Ballet and Tap. We also offer the professional level qualifications Intermediate and Advanced Level 1 & 2.

Children doing Freestyle and Lyrical Jazz can also participate in IDTA dance examinations, starting with the Rosette level then moving onto the Medal Awards.

Our dance exam sessions are held three times a year. These are not mandatory but do provide a wonderful sense of achievement as well as instilling the need for hard work, determination and discipline. The graded examinations in Ballet & Tap are Recognised by the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) meaning that UCAS points are awarded when passing these exams. UCAS points turn grades achieved into a numerical value and this tariff of points is used by universities as a method of entry.
DANCE EXAMS AND PERFORMANCES
While dance exams are important milestones for any young dancer ensuring our dance classes are fun, interesting and inspiring are key to what brings our Footlighters back to class each week. Working towards performance opportunities is great fun and helps our students to understand the importance of working in a team while turning on your own personal "wow" factor!
Whether we are dancing in the Old Market Square in Shrewsbury, a West End stage in London or in Disneyland Paris we wear our purple jackets with pride and smile wide!
PAID 3 WEEK TRIAL
We appreciate that it is always best to try something out before signing up in full, so we offer a paid 3 week trial to all our new students. A three week trial offers you the chance to get to know what life is like at Footlights as well as letting our younger students understand this will be something that happens each week at the same time, with the same teacher - we want each parent and child to be completely happy before joining our Footlights Family!
After the third trial session you will be sent an invoice for the remainder of the term along with lots of lovely information about what happens next (what uniform is required etc) and payment of this invoice secures your place at our classes.
