ABOUT US
Footlights Dance School was founded in 2005 by dance teacher Michelle Handley, a Shrewsbury based mum of two and primary school teacher. Michelle is passionate about dance and her enthusiasm and love for the art form is contagious.
Classes are held at Mereside Community Centre, the United Reformed Church and Belvidere Dance Studio in Shrewsbury 4 nights a week.
The teaching team consists of Michelle and 10 fully qualified teachers all sharing their expertise with upwards of 180 pupils in:

Students can join Footlights from the age of three and classes follow the IDTA syllabus with exams taking place three times a year.

Footlights firmly believe in providing opportunities for students to perform so that they obtain valuable performance experience as well as making wonderful memories. Some of the performance opportunities from recent years include:
Many of our “Footlighters” have performed in the Shrewsbury Panto, with English Youth Ballet and many other local musical theatre productions.
