JULIE WRIGHT

J Wright 1.jpg
Miss Julie works as part of our team as a cover teacher with the ability to teach all dance styles.
Miss Julie began dancing at her local dance school at the age of 11 and immediately fell in love with Ballet and Jazz. She also trained in Tap and Freestyle. She used to love helping out with younger classes at her school which inspired her to take her first Associate teaching qualification at the age of 16. Over the years, she went on to achieve Fellowship of the IDTA and the RAD teaching certificate.

She entered the world of Further Education and became Course Leader for Dance at a local college for 19 years. This role enabled her to develop strong relationships with local theatres and national arts organisations and provided many opportunities for learners to work alongside professional dance companies. She created close links with Birmingham Royal Ballet, Saddlers Wells Theatre, Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre, ACE Dance company, Rosie Kay, Autin Dance, NYDC, Avant Garde, Motionhouse and Matthew Bournes New Adventures.

In 2020, She joined the Royal Ballet and Opera Chance to Dance team as an Associate Artist.  This is, to date, her favourite role within dance. The programme provides creative dance opportunities to year 3 and 4 children that would not usually have the 'Chance to Dance' .. she have discovered some incredibly talented children during her 5 years of working on the programme. She is continually inspired by the CPD opportunities that she offered as part of her role.

From 2003 to 2023, she was Principal of her own Dance School, Dance2gether where she trained dancers from 3 to 60 in all genres of dance.

In 2023, she decided to take a gap year... she managed 15 days off then began working as a Freelance Dance artist!

She is currently working within the outreach and inclusive dance sectors in Shropshire and the West Midlands. She really enjoys working with dancers from diverse backgrounds with varying needs and disabilities. Supporting them to develop their dance and performance skills is extremely rewarding.

One of her biggest Inspirations is working alongside professional artists and lead artist on the RBO Chance to Dance programme. She enjoys gaining knowledge and inspiration from work linked to RBO repertoire.
